Elective Bible Studies (
Wednesdays
at 7p)
There are four 8-week series from which to choose:
The DOCTRINE of ECCLESIOLOGY or the Church
(Pastor Rory) — We attend church every week, but do we understand that the church is not a building, but the body of Christ, and that each of us has a specific function and role within that body? When did the church begin? When will it end? The church is a unique mystery, and it is under attack. A biblical understanding of ecclesiology is crucial to its health.
BURNING QUESTIONS: The Bible and Current Culture
(Pastor Dave) — Should I be concerned about global warming? Does God promise me health and wealth? Should a believer fight in a war? Does God care if I gamble? Does He hate homosexuals? Does His Word speak to issues like social media, the economy, or immigration? What about racism? Feminism? The Bible is timeless and alive, so it addresses such topics with cutting-edge relevance. We can’t escape our culture, but we can understand and respond to it with biblical wisdom.
METHODS of BIBLICAL COUNSELING
(Pastor Rodney) — Here is a look at the approaches taken in general counseling today in comparison to the counseling principles of the Word of God. Is the human heart a factor, and how can its issues be understood? Finally, we’ll learn how to help someone harboring the hurts that lead to bitterness.
WOMEN in the WORD: Read Thru the Bible in 2015
(Wanda Mitchell) — If you’ve been a Christian for any length of time, you’ve likely tried reading the Bible through. Perhaps you opened Genesis with enthusiasm, and proceeded confid
ently through Exodus, only to find yourself bogged down and discouraged, slogging through Leviticus. How about a new approach? Join us as we continue to read through God’s Word using a unique schedule that keeps every day fresh, and meet each Wednesday night to share what He is teaching us.
